Effects of Student Debt on Careers

"At a time when the government estimates that two million new teachers will be needed in the next decade, the large student-loan debt that college graduates face may deter students from entering public-service careers like teaching and social work, according to a report released on Wednesday by the State Public Interest Research Groups' Higher Education Project."

Hi Danny-

I completely agree with this article, as my boyfriend is becoming a lawyer (something he does not want to do!) because he has a large sum of debt to pay off!

I do not know how we can go about changing this scenario. Why can't teachers and social workers be paid more? We do work awfully hard, and we do not get the compensation we deserve.
